INFORMATION
What is My Other Half about? MOH is a human-companion roleplay that features a "Golden Compass" related story. The humans that live here are known as "Seers", they are able to communicate with animals verbally. Though, each Seer is assigned a companion, their spirit animal, the one animal they can speak telepathically with. Seers and companions are linked together, if one becomes ill, the other will as well. All humans in this roleplay are Seers, therefore everyone has a companion, even the adults. Children receive their companion at the age of 13 years. Our setting is in Detroit, Michigan, yet the Academy is set back in a deeply-wooded forest.
How do you receive your companion? The Choosing. A companion is chosen at the age of 13 years. You will undergo tests that are administrated by the Academy. After several tests are performed, it will be decided whether you are a canine, feline, rodent, or ave Seer. Depending on what class you are, you will be shown several different species of it. You will then pick the creature that you have a direct connection to; telepathic words, sudden interest, etc.
What is the Academy? The Academy is where all young Seers (13-18) attend school. Only Seers know about the campus that is located back in the woods. It is similar to a highschool, except it's more of a boarding school. Here you are taught how to manage a bond, build relations, and the special perks of being a Seer. Though, it is known that the teachers and administrator of the Academy aren't the most pleasant people. It is said that the Academy is trying to invent a way to remove Seers from their companions, without killing both of them.
What are the rankings here at MOH? We don't really have rankings, except for students, teachers, children, and rogues. Students attend the Academy, teachers/adults work at the Academy. Children are to young to attend the Academy. Rogues are on the run, they believe that the Academy truly is an evil place. Normally, rogues, have been in some sort of trouble with the Academy and fear that their companion will be taken from them.
